My dad bought it for me one Christmas, having heard it was good, which isn’t something he does often — buy books for me unaided. So I wanted to honour his gift by finishing it. But gah, for the first 100 pages or so it was really tough. But then! Then it gets GREAT. Now I usually give up on books I’m not enjoying, but it’s good to be reminded that sometimes a slow burn is worth investing in.
